Overview of All FLV Player Customization Options
Overview of All FLV Player Customization Options
Article
There are over 100 customizable settings within the FlvPlayer Flash Video Component. These include streaming options, dynamic buffering settings, video playback, interface dispay, colors and transparency options, and many more.
In this article, we have outlined all of the settings that are available from within the Flash Component Panel once an instance of the FlvPlayer has been moved onto the stage.
Note: This does not include any of the xml settings that are also available. Those are covered in our Advanced Customization Knowledgebase articles.
Video Source
The video source can be set to stream progressive or streaming video. You can load a video by typing the video path directly into this parameter, or you can load the flvplayer/xml/videos.xml and use those advanced settings.
This parameter accepts three types of input:
1) Direct path to video (Ex:
http://yourdomain.com/media/video.mp4)
2) Load XML parameters (Ex: flvplayer/xml/videos.xml)
3) Flash Media Server Direct Path (Ex:
rtmp://your.rtmphost.com/application_name/,video_name)
Note: When using Option 3, you do not have to specify the file name extension (ie: .flv, .mp4, etc)
Pre-Roll Image
Use Pre-roll images when AutoStart is set to false.
AutoStart
When set to true, the player will automatically start playing your first move once it has buffered. If this is set to false, the video will be paused, a large play button will be visible, and the movie will preload in the background until the user has clicked on play.
Customize the Logo or Watermark
Brand your videos with you own logo or watermark. The logo can be placed in any of the four corners of the player.
Buffer Time
Defines the amount of video that is buffered before playback is enabled.
Loop Video
Defines if the video will loop once it has finished playing.
Play Next Video Automatically
If this is set to true, once the first video is finished playing, it will automatically progress to the next video. This is only available if you load your videos using the XML.
Start Volume
Set the initial volume of the playback.
Video Size Control
If you are loading multiple videos at different sizes, this setting can become very important.
This parameter accepts five types of input:
1) constrain to player (Keep the video sized to the exact dimensions of the component)
2) automatically resize if needed (automatically fit the video to the best width and height for playback)
3) original (always keep the video at it's original size and if the video is too large for the player it will be cropped)
4) fit to width (resize the video to fit to the width of the player)
5) fit to height (resize the video to fit to the height of the player)
Video Smoothing Enabled
If set to true this setting will keep things like fonts from becoming disoriented when the video is resized.
Show Component Background
If the component background is turned on, there is a color of your choice displayed when there is no video loaded or when the video is loading.
Interface Display
Control when the FlvPlayer interface is displayed.
This parameter accepts three types of input:
1) open (the playback controls are always displayed)
2) closed (the playback controls are always not displayed)
3) autohide (if no mouse movement is detected, the playback controls will automatically hide themselves and reappear when mouse movement is detected)
Interface Layout
Control how the FlvPlayer interface is displayed.
This parameter accepts two types of input:
1) overlay (the playback controls are displayed on top of the video)
2) outside (the playback controls are displayed below the video)
